Violet was found as a stray wandering in North Texas area. She waited at the shelter for several weeks before we were able to take her into our program. Violet is a vibrant young girl of only 6 mo old. She is sweet with all her dog friends and loves to play. She will give the sweetest little puppy kisses.

Within a week of coming out of the shelter, Violet was diagnosed with Parvo. With fluids and intensive care, Violet came through that like a champ! Now, Violet is in the battle for her life! With her first vet visit, the vet noticed an unusual sloshing sound to her heart. We arranged for her to have echocardiogram done to see what was causing this. Unfortunately, the echo revealed that Violet has pulmonic stenosis with possible patent ductus arteriosus, as well. She will need a more detailed powerful echo cardiogram done at Texas A&M to reveal the full extent of her broken heart. The surgery estimate is approximately $3,000. If we can find 300 people to donate $10 or 150 people to donate $20, Violet can have a mended heart and be ready to find someone to steal her heart away!

GPRS needs foster homes:

We desperatly need more foster homes to save more lives. Many Pyrs end up in city and county shelters where they are given only few days to live.

GPRS rescues Pyrs from these shelters and places them in foster care while they await their permanent home.

These abadoned orphans need a temporary home OR THEY WILL BE KILLED. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can rescue from shelters and the more dogs lives we can save.

Sadly many dogs die needlessly in shelters because there aren’t enough foster homes available.

Welcome to the new Great Pyrenees Rescue Society website!

Thank you for visiting us.

We are an all volunteer, not for profit, 501c3, rescue group dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitaion and rehoming of Great Pyrenees dogs whose lives are in danger. Absolutely 100% of all our donations goes to the dogs we care for.

Most of our dogs come to us from kill shelters around the Greater Houston area. We place them in foster homes while they are evaluated and rehabilitated untill we find a permant home for them.

There are so many more wonderful, majestic, and deserving Great Pyrenees needing help in Texas than we have places for. The only way we can save these precious dogs is with you help. We always need temporary foster homes, donations, volunteers help and of course if you can gove a dog a permanet home, you'll complete our dream.
