You there, stop where you are! Halt, I say! I see that you are approaching my yard and I’ll need to know a lot more about you before I let you pass! The sturdy fence that I patrol is here for a reason; to help me protect my humans! I can’t let just anyone in. I am a proud “Moscow Watchdog”, a combination of St. Bernard and Caucasian Shepard. I am strong like bull, big like bear, and loyal like…well, like a rescue dog who has found her home. Or at least I will be, once adopted.
You can see I am not your average dog. I don’t go to “dog parks” or other frivolous play places. I don’t enjoy being fawned on by strangers. I am embarrassed for those dogs! For me, new people and new dogs require slow, specific introduction before I can let my guard down. I prefer to bond deeply with a small number of adult humans and serve them as a security guard and private foot warmer.
You see, I am not all barks and growls. That is just what people see from the other side of the fence. Once we are introduced and I know you to be safe, I will thrill you with my obedience training – I can SIT and have been known to catch hot dog pieces in mid-air! You will be most impressed! I also have spent some time around water and found it very pleasing. I like the wind in my fur during the boat ride and was able to balance on a paddle board! However, on the way home my foster family stopped at a food window and a stranger tried to hand us bags – I did NOT like that. Highly suspicious behavior!
When I am in a peaceful spot, like a yard with no intruders walking by, I will find my happy place rolling in the grass or under a shady tree for a nap. Now that I am more than three years old, I am a medium energy girl. However, my ultimate joy is found in cuddles with a human I trust. Once won, my trust is absolute. I will roll over and offer you my vulnerable belly for rubs. I am a “leaner”, so I hope my future family are sturdy people who can withstand my big body velcroed to their legs. I do ask that my future family not share with strangers that I am actually a sweet marshmallow dog – I have a reputation to protect!
I would do well as an only dog. My adoptive family must have large breed experience because not just anyone can understand a dog as strong as me. I am 110 lbs but could probably bench press double! You will never feel so safe as when I am at your side. You will also never feel so cozy as when I am on your couch.
If you think you may be right person for me, please apply on the GPRS website to meet me. Until then…come no closer. And keep your hands where I can see them.
All dogs and puppies require VISIBLE fencing
