Puppy Love!” Hi, my name is Nolan, I am two months old born on August 7, 2020. I am a male Great Pyrenees mix puppy living with my foster family in Texas. Great Pyrenees Rescue Society rescued my mom Shirley a gentle 4-year-old Great Pyrenees. Before she was picked up as a stray and taken to a Texas animal shelter, mom was wandering the countryside. This story is not uncommon in Texas except for the part that mom was pregnant. She was taken to the vet who said “birth would be two weeks out”. She arrived at her foster mom’s house and settled in and to everyone’s surprise, she gave birth to 10 healthy puppies 6 days later, one of them was me. Thanks to GPRS, my mom and foster mom, I am healthy and ready to be adopted into my forever home.

His foster mom says “Nolan is a playful, adventurous boy. He loves his time outdoors and keeps his nose to the ground. If his foster brothers are around he is quick to start a wrestling match. Nolan likes people and will follow someone around the yard like a duckling but he does not actively seek out snuggles. Nolan is a confident, playful boy who does not seem to have couch potato in his vocabulary. Nolan does ok when left alone but prefers it when his littermates are around.” Nolan and his brothers are still learning to master potty training and seem to have a natural desire not to potty where they sleep. They love going outdoors to play with sticks and leaves. Their favorite treat is a baby spoon full of raw honey. They have met an adult male dog and are curious and want to play with him, none seem scared. They are still afraid of big new noises but overall they do not seem to be afraid of much.

Nolan will need a resident canine to mentor him and provide him guidance through puppyhood. He will need a securely fenced yard for play and exercise and will need training, socialization, with a strong confident leader in his family that can provide firm but loving boundaries. Please complete an adoption application if you want puppy love from Nolan.

Our requirements for puppy adoption are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size.  This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day.  If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application.  Adoption is not first come, first served.  GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.

Adoption Fee $375

Northwest adopters pay the cost of transport to independent transport service ($200)

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog.  We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed.  While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer!
