“My favorite place would be next to you.” Hugo is a handsome Great Pyrenees who is an active, affectionate youngster, and is a bit of a comedian as he likes to take things and play “catch me if you can.” Given some time, this shy boy will warm up to you and become your best buddy. All he craves is your attention, love, and being petted.

Hugo, born August 2018, weighing about 114 lbs, was an owner surrender to the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society because he started chasing the family’s farm animals. He lived outdoors and slept in an open shelter. His family loved him.

Hugo needs more experience living indoors and is working on his house training. He walks well on a leash and sometimes comes when called. He likes people and eagerly wants to please you. He likes other dogs, although he is very picky about who he plays with.

He would do best in a home as an “only dog” with an all adult family, kids 15 years old and older.  He is ok with cats. A large secure fenced yard for play and a daily walk would be a good start for expanding his socialization skills. He will need a family with confident leaders that are familiar with Pyr’s traits and behaviors. Are you the family Hugo’s favorite place would be? If you are, please complete an adoption application for Hugo.

Adoption Fee $300. (Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm test, rabies, distemper, parvo and health certificate for travel). Northwest adopters pay the cost of transport to independent transport service ($225). Adoption applications can be found on our website at

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog.  We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed.  While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer!
