“Big fun-loving Pyr” Meet handsome Bain, a big goofy Pyr born around January 2020. He is friendly and playful. Still, very much a puppy, weighing 75 lbs, he was rescued by the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society from a Texas animal shelter as a stray. He likes receiving pets, belly rubs and likes giving you his Pyr Paw and following you.

Bain is sociable, greets people and other dogs with a wagging tail and a friendly manner. He is house trained, rides well in the car, walks ok on the leash, and has some basic training. He likes cats, going on daily walks, and is treat motivated. He requires a resident canine companion to show him the ropes and help him settle into his new home. A big, securely fenced yard to run and play would keep Bain exercised and safe.

He would do well in an active home with older, considerate kids. He is a warm, bright Pyr and needs assured leaders in his family familiar with Pyr characteristics and habits. He needs to have a stay-at-home person as he is very people-oriented. Please complete an Adoption Application if Bain would fit perfectly with your family.

Our requirements for puppy adoption are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size.  This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day.  If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application.  Adoption is not first come, first served.  GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.

Adoption Fee $450 (Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm test, rabies, distemper, parvo and health certificate for travel). Northwest adopters pay the cost of transport to independent transport service ($225).

Adoption applications can be found on our website at .

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog.  We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed.  While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer!
