HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS We have so many pups wanting a furever home! We are offering a reduced puppy adoption fee of ONLY $375 for applications received from October 27th to November 3rd, so that they are settled in their home for the holidays. This adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo shot, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel. You must still meet our requirements, as listed below, to adopt a puppy. We want to make sure our homes for puppies are forever! Adopters located outside of Texas pay the cost of transport to an independent transport service ($225).

Hi, my name is Astrid! I'm a sweet and playful girl, just under one year old, weighing around 60 lbs. The Great Pyrenees Rescue Society saved me after a Texas animal shelter caught me, and they deemed me a stray dog. I'm a little skinny, so I'm working to put on a few pounds, and luckily, I love to eat! My foster parents say I'm food motivated and a smart girl. I have mastered sit, and I'm working on other basic commands.

I enjoy going for long walks, and I'm learning to walk on the leash. But most of all, I like to play! I can make a toy out of anything and keep myself entertained by playing with pinecones outside. I still have a bit of learning about items in the house that are not meant for play, but I'm easily redirected. My favorite activity is playing with my foster sister in the backyard, where I can run around and be goofy!

I also love to be inside with my people. I'm a very affectionate girl, and I'm happy sitting next to you, getting love and pets. I like to follow my foster mom around the house, but I will put myself into my crate when it's time for a nap.

I would do best in a home with another dog around my size that likes to play and can show me the ropes. I've heard kids can be fun to play with too! I think older kids would be best for me since I'm still young and sometimes forget my size. I'm excellent around cats too and wouldn't mind having them in my home. I have so much love to give and can't wait to find my forever family.

Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
  7. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.

Adoption fee: $375 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo shot, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters located outside of Texas pay the cost of transport to an independent transport service ($225).
