Hi, my name is Yuzu! My foster mom tells me I’m very handsome and will be a big boy someday. I was born in November 2021, and I’m already so tall and leggy.  My double dews are there, and I’ve got all the classic Pyr traits.

I’ll probably be the boss one day, but for now, I’m learning to fit in with my foster sister (who I love to play rough and tumble with for hours; sometimes, I fall asleep on her tail). Then there’s my gigantic foster brother, who I idolize (he isn’t so sure about me, but I’m a quick learner when he lets me know he wants me out of his personal space).

I always greet my foster mom and dad with the most excited tail wags even if they’re gone for more than an hour (or a minute, or out of sight for a second). I give licks and kisses every time I get picked up because I can’t help how excited I am to be part of my foster pack. I love toys and anything you give me to chew.

When I’m outside with my foster siblings, I watch them closely and copy their every move. I act tough, but if I hear any barking, I run straight back to the door and ask to come inside. Someday I hope to be brave like them and bark, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Although I didn’t like my crate at first, my foster mom made it so comfy in there that I’ve decided it’s best to sleep in there when she’s working from home. That way, I don’t have to hear her boring meetings! I’ve also decided it’s the place to sleep at night. I might whine a little at first for fear of missing out on the fun, but once I’m down, you won’t hear from me again.

My manners get better all the time, and whoever becomes my forever parents will have the goodest boy one day. I’d love to have a big confident dog in the home like my foster sister, who can take my sneak attacks with good humor and put me in my place now and then. Otherwise, I don’t want for much except lots of love (oh and food, lots of food of any kind, I’m not picky). Will you consider me?

ADOPT HERE: Complete an Adoption Application for your Pyr-fect new family companion at https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=6206.

PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS.

Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
  7. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.

Adoption fee: $450 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo shot, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters located outside of Texas pay the cost of transport to an independent transport service ($250).

GPRS has proudly placed thousands of Great Pyrenees and GP mixes in the PNW for over a decade. Our volunteers have over 100 years combined experience fostering, screening, and placing this majestic breed into loving, forever homes. When adopting from us, you can rest assured that we provide life-long support and advice when it comes to your new family member. As always, our purpose is to find the best match for every unique dog that comes through our doors. Taking the time to find the right fit comes first and foremost at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. If you are interested in adopting, please take the time, and apply. You will see firsthand how much care, attention and love goes into the process, when you are guided a personal screener. This is why we have people come back again and again for their next family member! See all our dogs, fill out an application and discover why we are the BEST at placing the right dog in the right home! https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/.

ADOPTION, FOSTERING, AND DONATIONS are just some of the ways you can help a rescued dog. We have worked hard to cultivate a large network of volunteers to save this majestic breed. While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer.
