Adopt a Dog with Great Pyrenees Rescue Society: Find Your Pyr-fect Furry Friend

Thank you for your interest in our dogs! We know that when you adopt a Great Pyrenees, you will be adding a valuable member to your family. If you have more questions, see Great Pyrenees Facts that can address any concerns that you might have.

I Want to Adopt a Dog But Have Certain Preferences

While every dog is adoptable , every dog is different. Each dog has their own personality – and that’s right, preferences too. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to man’s best friend. This is why we only match certain dogs with certain owners . When you’re deciding on which dog might suit your personality or life, it’s helpful to take a look at our adoption pages which give you more information about each individual dog available for adoption.

Do You Have a Puppy or Younger Dog for Adoption?

We have both teens and puppies to adopt. Keep in mind that puppies have not yet fully developed their unique personalities. Just as children grow and change, so do puppies, but you can get all the playfulness of a puppy by adopting a teen dog instead.

What Is the Process When You Want to Foster to Adopt a Dog?

If you’re not sure if you want to permanently adopt a Great Pyrenees, you may try to foster to adopt a dog. When you are a dog foster, the dog stays with you until someone adopts. This can be tricky, as you might realize sooner than later that you don’t want to let them go! Someone that fosters a dog must accept this, but if your intention is to find the perfect dog for you, you may apply to adopt the dog before someone else is approved.

What Is the Process to Adopt a Dog?

Firstly, thank you for your interest in wanting to adopt a Great Pyrenees rescue! We would love to get your information and talk before moving forward. The following list explains the three steps of the adoption process.

STEP ONE: Fill out our Application

There are 4 short areas to the application form to complete:

  • your general information

  • home, yard and vet information

  • previous and current pet information

  • and information about the dog you are interested in.

NOTE: Please do not fill out the contract until instructed.

After completing the questions, you will click on the "Complete the Form" button at the bottom of the page.  This will complete your application. You will be directed to the My Rescue Page where you can review and print your application as submitted. You will receive a confirmation email and will be contacted by a volunteer within 3 to 4 days. Please check your spam filter/junk folder as sometimes mail gets misdirected.

STEP TWO: Let's Talk!

WE ARE EXCITED TO TALK WITH YOU:   After reviewing your application, one of our screeners will contact you and discuss possible matches and if you have been approved to adopt and are ready to fill out a contract, please follow this Adoption Contract link.

STEP THREE: Sign The Dotted Line

We will send you an invoice for the adoption fee to your email address. The Payment Link allows you to pay by Credit Card and PayPal. We do accept payments via Zelle and Venmo as well - ask your screener for details.

Pet Transportation Information

Great Pyrenees Rescue Society is happy to arrange transport for the dogs through one of our experienced transport services providers when you adopt. Many of our dogs have been transported to the PNW already - your screener will have all the information needed! Pet transporters are experienced in local pet adoption as well as long distance pet adoption.

If you would like to arrange for your own transport, we are happy to work with you on that as well!
